The Harrodsburg Pioneers traveled to Somerset last night to take on the Somerset Tigers. The Pioneers who came into the game needing a big win and chance to win against their rivals and a chance to win more games than last year.
The Somerset Tigers shot the lights out of the gym hitting 19 three pointers. However, it wasn't enough as the Harrodsburg Pioneers went into Somerset and came home with a big 91-86 over their rivals.
Jamal Weaver who had a monster game for the Pioneers scored 25 points in the game, but it was the rebounding that gave the Pioneers the fuel to win, grabbing 16 boards to go along with the 25 points.
Antoine Darby added in 19 points for the Pioneers, hitting a pair of late free throws to help seal the victory for the Pioneers. Devin Baker also stepped up for the Pioneers scoring 18 points while also securing 5 boards.
Next up for the Pioneers is their regional tournament at Welch College. The Pioneers will take on either Great Lakes Christian College or Simmons College in the first round. The Pioneers will play at 5pm next Thursday night February 27th. In order to win the region the Pioneers must win three straight games.
