Several Athletes Pioneer the Way for the Future

This season was a special season for the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Pioneers the men's golf team won the first regional championship in school history, the men's basketball team made it to the regional semifinals, and the women's basketball team made it to the regional final. While the soccer and esports teams kicked off their first ever season of competition.

However, the most important piece of history was seen this past week as the Pioneers saw their first class of graduating seniors. Seven Pioneers graduated this past weekend from Campbellsville University.

Men's basketball saw Devin Baker who has been part of the program since the first team was formed when it was just a club basketball team. The men's team also saw Jay'Quise Simpson who played point guard for the Pioneers in the 2019-2020 season and assistant coach Devon York both graduate this past week.

Women's basketball saw its first ever graduating senior as E'moni Washington walked across the stage. Washington was part of the first ever women's basketball team and marks the first Lady Pioneer basketball player to graduate setting a standard for the Lady Pioneers to come.

The Golf and Bowling teams saw two sport athletes Parker Monhollen and Olivia Boggs walk across the stage this year. Monhollen was part of the first ever golf and bowling teams, while Boggs has recently joined the golf team was part of the first bowling team as well.

The soccer team saw lone senior and the first ever recruit for the Pioneers Denson Jenkins graduate this past year. Jenkins Pioneered the way for the soccer team academically by being the first to graduate from either men's or women's team.

These athletes have Pioneered the way for the future Pioneers to come. Athletic Director Dalton Christopher had this to say about the accomplishments that the students had "It's incredibly special for me to see our students reach the goals they set out for when they chose to commit to be a Pioneer." Adding in "While we celebrate all athletic and academic success, earning a degree is an accomplishment that changes the path of someone's life. I'm incredibly proud of our students for their perseverance and commitment to their goals and celebrate with them in this moment."

This special moment for the Pioneers is something that will be remembered forever, as the first group have Pioneered the way for our future students not only athletically but also academically.
