Campbellsville University Harrodsburg is gearing up for the launch of one of the last offerings at CUH, ESports.
ESports is amongst the fastest growing sports in the world. There are currently more than 205 million viewers of eSports competitions on streaming platforms. What makes ESports interesting is that nearly any game that requires competition can be featured.
The Pioneers will compete in NACE, the National Association of Collegiate ESports. NACE currently hosts 170 member institutions with more than 5,000 student athletes. NACE currently hosts more than 94% of collegiate varsity esports programs in the United States.
The Pioneers will be coached by Bradley Cay, a coach that will bring his experiences from esports team ownership and management to the Pioneers.
"I feel strongly that It is a good way to grow the community with core values, faith, family, education and ESports," said Cay. "I am excited about this opportunity for Campbellsville University and myself as we partner to make esports an exciting outreach to attract even more students to not only further their education, but to possibly engage in the world of Esports."
Becoming an esports collegiate head coach was an opportunity Cay was eager to take on.
"Accepting the position as ESports coach at Campbellsville University Harrodsburg has actually been a dream job of mine. I am very passionate about this role and dedicated to growing ESports for Campbellsville University and making it competitive."
Student athletes will be able to take advantage of the new ESports arena, housed in the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Athletic Facility.
"I am excited to launch ESports this fall at CU Harrodsburg," said Dalton Christopher, Athletic Director. "We will be amongst the first USCAA and NCCAA programs to offer this program at the collegiate level and I can't think of a better opportunity for an upcoming student athlete looking for their next step in their career than CU Harrodsburg."
